To begin the process, you must fill out an application to take the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship test. You must apply either on-line or in person, at the Sheet Metal Workers Training Center. Applications are taken Monday thru Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm or by appointment.

We are located at 1200 Gulf Lab Rd., Harmarville, PA 15238. Take Rt. 28N to Harmar Exit 11. Stay in the left lane and at the traffic light, cross Rt. 910 to Gulf Lab Rd. The test is given twice per year, in the spring and fall, by Industrial Research Associates. Once you complete the application, we will notify you of the test date and location. The test covers things like vocabulary, math, reading comprehension, computer terminology, and work logic. You are required to pay a non-refundable test fee of $25.00 prior to taking the test.

Once you have completed the test, you will be notified whether or not you qualify for further screening with our Joint Apprenticeship Committee. At that time, you will be required to supply high school and post-high school transcripts, proof of citizenship, and two letters of reference. If you meet the necessary qualifications, you will be asked to come for an interview with the six committee members.

If accepted into the program, you must then pass a physical and drug screening.
You will be required to pay $65 toward the cost of the drug screening. Pending those results, you will begin working for a signatory contractor shortly thereafter.
